Grok Bot pricing, explained in plain words

By Shane M · · 4 min read

In short

How much Grok Bot costs, which X Subscription plans include it, the older plans that still work, app store prices, and which plan I'd pick as a beginner.

"Grok Bot pricing" is one of the top things people search, and I get why. The plans have changed names more than once, and lots of people have ended up paying twice without meaning to. So let me lay it out simply.

Prices below are in US dollars and come from the official pricing page at x.ai/pricing when I last checked. The page itself says "Prices subject to change," so always check it before you buy.

Grok Bot doesn't have its own subscription

This trips people up first. You can't buy "Grok Bot" on its own. It comes included with other plans from the same group of companies.

The main way to get it now is a plan called The X Subscription, announced in October 2026. It has several levels, and not all of them include Grok Bot.

The X Subscription levels that include Grok Bot

  • Premium: $30 a month.
  • Super: $100 a month.
  • Ultra: $200 a month.

The cheaper levels (Plus and the free level) don't include Grok Bot.

The pricing page says these prices don't include taxes or fees like VAT, so depending on where you live, your bill may be a bit higher.

What's the difference between them?

Mostly, how much work your Bots can do each week. The pricing page compares them to the Plus level: Premium gives you 4 times as much usage as Plus, Super gives you 15 times, and Ultra gives you 50 times.

Here's the frustrating bit. The company doesn't say how much Plus allows in the first place, so those multipliers don't tell you an actual amount. I explain how the weekly allowance works, and how to make it last, in my guide to usage limits.

Your usage is one weekly pool shared across Grok, Cursor and Grok Bot. So if you also use the Grok chat app a lot, it all comes out of the same bucket.

Which plan should a beginner pick?

The company's own advice is "Premium for new AI users," and I agree. Start with Premium at $30 a month. If after a few weeks you keep running out, you can move up. Going up is easy. Getting back money you didn't need to spend is not.

You might already have it

Before you buy, check whether you already pay for something that includes Grok Bot. The official help pages say these older plans, now called "legacy" plans, still give you access:

  • A paid Cursor plan (Pro, Pro+ or Ultra), or Cursor Teams.
  • A SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus or SuperGrok Heavy subscription, or X Premium+, linked to your account.
  • A seat on a Grok Business plan through work.

If you have one of those, sign in first and see what you get. Lots of people have paid twice because they didn't know.

Buying in the phone app versus the website

If you sign up from inside the phone app, you may be paying through Apple or Google instead of the website. Two things to know:

  1. App store prices vary by country and can be different from the website, and the plan names can look different too. Compare before you buy.
  2. If you buy through Apple or Google, you cancel and ask for refunds through Apple or Google, not through Grok Bot.

If you're outside the US, the app store may show prices in your own currency and older plan names, so compare carefully before you tap buy.

Extra usage, called top-ups

If your weekly pool runs out, your Bots stop until it refreshes, unless you've set up extra paid credit. The pricing page calls these "top-ups."

Only buy from the official places

The pricing page says subscriptions are sold only directly, with no resellers. So if someone offers you a cheap account, a shared login or a "lifetime deal," walk away. At best it's against the rules and can be shut down. At worst it's a scam.
